When reaching shelter at the end of each hiking day one of the first things to do is to “make” water for the next day’s hike.
This means topping about 5 liters of water (2.5 each) from the source, usually a spring, and filtering it just to eliminate surprises.
Then it sits overnight.
Lately it gets down to the high twenties or low thirties.
Once the hiking begins the next day it is hard to describe how good this tastes when taking that first big, cold, clean pull. Yum.
